Sitting Room
Like many homes, this one had a formal dining room situated at the entry of the home that wasn't being used as such due to the large dining area adjacent to the kitchen.
Because there was no need for an additional dining area, the clients instead wanted to convert this open area to a sitting/reading room just outside the home office. The main color inspiration for the space came from the clients’ large cityscape painting and existing wall color that wasn’t to change. Comfortable reclining leather chairs are the perfect place to relax and enjoy a good book. Ikea bookshelves were customized with a rich blue paint color and matte black hardware. A low-pile area rug creates warmth and dampens sound coming from the tiled entryway. Curtains, a drum style coffee table, an updated contemporary chandelier, and unique accessories round out the space to create a welcoming place to entertain guests or cuddle up with a good book.
