Dining & Piano Room

Eclectic. Creative. Classy. Purposeful.

This open-space living & dining room provides the first look into our client's home as you enter the front door. Our intention was to highlight her gorgeous piano while streamlining her colorful and eclectic design inclinations.

This project began with the biggest challenge; replacing the old carpet in this combined space and integrating new flooring with the adjacent red oak hardwood floors that were installed a handful of years ago. That same flooring is no longer available (nor was a suitable match), so we opted for a contrasting dark hardwood that runs perpendicular to the existing flooring, with the addition of a custom white marble inlay & border to define this space and set it apart from the entry. Because the client has such an extensive and colorful art collection, we wanted warm white walls to serve as a neutral canvas, allowing the gallery wall to set the tone of her house, which perfectly reflects her personality and charm. The green accent wall both balances the room and anchors the sitting area, which boasts these funky velvet wingbacks, vibrant throw pillows, glass end table, and unique table lamp. The formal living room has no overhead lighting, so we went with a dramatic black arched drum lamp over the baby grand to provide additional light and personality. Because the client’s dining table and hutch are family heirlooms, it was imperative to incorporate them into the new design. By refurbishing the table top, reupholstering the dinging chairs, and painting the hutch, we were able to pay homage to the sentimental nature of the pieces while making them feel current and relevant to her taste. The boho-inspired beaded chandelier over the dining table is the perfect compliment to all the fun and funk packed into this gorgeous room.
