This spacious kitchen was in need of a light and bright update throughout the main living space to counter the the natural shade provided by the clients' many trees.
One of our main objectives was to brighten the kitchen & living space considering the existing poor lighting and darker wall color. Additionally, we wanted to pay homage to the beautiful Italian design aesthetic the clients were already working with, while updating colors & accessories to give a completely new look & feel. The first step we took was to paint the original dark brown cabinetry a subtle two-tone, with the upper cabinets slightly lighter than the lower. The addition of copper hardware not only keeps the cabinet doors cleaner, but also ties in beautifully with the copper tile accents in the backsplash, granite countertops, and the hardwood floors, all of which the clients did not want to replace. One of our favorite updates is the addition of larger, statement-making island pendants that coordinate well with the existing kitchen table light fixture. This kitchen update does a great job of demonstrating what a bit of paint and some new hardware can do to change a space without the price tag of a complete kitchen remodel.
